SUSTAINABILITY AND INCLUSIONS

Sustainability Protocols

MMIP Compliant

We follow strict guidelines in all interactions with marine mammals. Safe viewing practices, speed limitation and no follow restrictions are applied on every tour.

Staying Informed

We closely monitor all information and updates on the marine sanctuary and share information and requirements both on tours and through our social platforms

Energy Efficient

We make sure to only use energy efficient lighting within our offices. Whenever possible natural lighting is used. All power points are turned off at EOD unless needed to maintain equipment.

Maintain Vessels

All vessels are maintained to the highest standard following all Australian Maritime Safety Authority Guidelines and undergo frequent accreditation checks and servicing.

Recycling

All offices and warehouses have bins specifically for recycling bottles, cans and paper. Staff follow strict recycling protocols. Wherever possible recyclable products are used.

Educational Tours

We include educational information on the local environment and marine sanctuary on all tours. We also provide private Marine Educational Cruises for schools and OSHCs.

Digital Footprint

We have a focus on digital over paper wherever possible, with 90% of all advertising and operational structure done online. Where printing is needed recyclable paper is utilised (see recycling).

Local Products

In order to reduce transport emissions AND as part of our quest to support local we only use local products, suppliers and services whenever possible.

Reduce Motor Transmissions

We have decreased the emissions from our vessel by reducing the HP of the motors and travelling slower along the coast ensuring emissions are limited. This has lowered our overall fuel consumption.

Support Local Businesses

We run the Kangaroo Island Visitor Information Centre, providing visitors with information on local experiences, eateries, accommodations and more.

Being Inclusive

Indigenous Culture

As an indigenous-owned company, we are aware of the Cultural significance of the area and incorporate Cultural History in our tours.

Language Barriers

We utilise a online booking platform with 18 different language options. Our tour guides are trained to work with clients where English is not their first language.

LGBTQA+ Safe Space

We are supportive of the LGBTQA+ community and have worked with LGBTQA+ organisations on specialised tours, events and articles.

Our Accessibility

Physical Limitations

We provide a easy to access dock, located only 100m away from parking. All staff are trained in aiding customers in boarding and departing the vessel. Seats are large with sufficient leg room.

Special Requirements

Customer comfort is our priority. Our staff are trained in providing assistance as required and are happy to return to dock if needed at any point during the tour.

Discounted Prices

We provide discounts for concessions, seniors and students. Additionally, bookings can be made in person, over the phone, via email or via our website.

Hard Of Hearing

Bookings can be done online, as well as through email and live chat. Our staff are trained in working with those with hearing impediments and will ensure all instructions are clearly understood.
